Dr Amarnath Bhide

Dr Amarnath Bhide is a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine based in London. He specialises in invasive and non-invasive prenatal diagnosis and therapy, prolonged pregnancy, pre-eclampsia and placenta previa. He also has a clinical interest in high risk pregnancy and medical problems experienced during pregnancy.

He completed his basic training in obstetrics and gynaecology in India, and his subspecialty training in the United Kingdom. He was awarded a PhD in Fetal Physiology by the Arctic University of Norway. He is currently a Consultant in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the St. George's Hospital in London. He is also an Associate Professor at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

Dr Bhide is Deputy Editor and Chief of Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, a peer reviewed medical journal covering gynecology, female urology, gynecologic oncology and fertility. He is also a scientific editor of BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and part of othe editorial board for three other journals.

He is actively involved in research, with an interest in placental physiology and pathology, hypoxaemia and fetal cardiac function. He has published 48 peer-reviewed articles and 17 book chapters, as well as authoring four books.
