Dr Anna Shawcross

Dr Anna Shawcross is a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine who provides expert, comprehensive care for infants, children, and young people with complex chest and breathing conditions. Serving as a Clinical Lead in her field, she combines high-level clinical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centred approach to ensure every child receives an individualised treatment plan. Dr Shawcross works closely with young patients and their families to help manage chronic respiratory illnesses effectively, aiming to optimise long-term health and quality of life.

Dr Shawcross graduated with an MB ChB with Honours from the University of Manchester in 2004. She completed her postgraduate medical training in general paediatrics across the Northwest region before undertaking higher sub-specialty training in paediatric respiratory medicine. Demonstrating a strong commitment to clinical excellence and academic research, she earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD) research degree and gained membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH).

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad spectrum of specialist paediatric respiratory services. Dr Shawcross has particular clinical interest in managing cystic fibrosis, non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, and severe asthma. She is skilled in performing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, including elective bronchoscopy and advanced pulmonary function assessment techniques such as multiple breath washout testing and spirometry.
