Dr Andrew Sutherland

Dr Andrew Sutherland is an accomplished General Surgeon and Consultant Transplant Surgeon dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centred care. With extensive expertise in complex abdominal procedures, he specialises in advanced operative techniques designed to restore health and improve long-term patient outcomes. Dr Sutherland approaches every consultation with clarity and empathy, ensuring that patients and their families feel fully informed, reassured, and supported throughout their surgical journey.

Dr Sutherland completed his medical education at the University of Edinburgh, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) in Pathology in 1996, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) in 1999. He subsequently underwent comprehensive surgical training, during which he completed a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) at the University of Oxford in 2011. His professional qualifications include Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) obtained in 2003 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in General Surgery (FRCS Gen Surg) awarded in 2013.

Throughout his career, Dr Sutherland has established focused clinical interests in kidney, pancreas, and islet cell transplantation, alongside minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy.
