Dr William Calvert

Dr William Calvert is a dedicated Paediatric Surgeon who specialises in providing comprehensive surgical care for infants, children, and young people. He is highly committed to patient and family-centred care, ensuring that families are actively involved in every stage of their child's healthcare journey. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Calvert serves as a Clinical Lead for Transformation, where he focuses on improving healthcare delivery and patient experiences.

Throughout his career, Dr Calvert has developed a strong interest in neonatal surgery, daycase surgery, and quality improvement within paediatric healthcare. His clinical work and research encompass a wide range of complex conditions, including necrotising enterocolitis, congenital duodenal obstruction, and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. He is also actively involved in implementing innovative patient-initiated follow-up pathways to empower families and streamline clinical care.

Dr Calvert completed his medical training at the University of Liverpool, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine. He has also contributed significantly to clinical research and medical education, holding roles such as Clinical Research Fellow. His academic work focuses on enhancing patient safety, improving surgical outcomes, and preserving empathy in medical training.
