About Dr. Thomas Alway

Dr Alway is an experienced cardiologist who has expertise in the diagnosis and management of inherited cardiac conditions and heart failure. He also specialises in cardiac devices including the implantation of pacemakers, loop recorders, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation devices.

Dr Alway is passionate about providing comprehensive care for patients affected by genetic heart disease, particularly those with cardiomyopathy and inherited arrhythmia. He uses state-of-the-art diagnostics such as ambulatory ECGs, echocardiograms, cardiac CT, MRI and genetic testing to provide individualised risk stratification and personalised care. He also understands the importance of caring for whole families affected by inherited cardiac conditions and provides comprehensive family screening services.

Dr Alway qualified from University College London with a Distinction in 2012, along with a BSc (Hons) in Physiology. Dr Alway trained in several prestigious hospitals including Harefield and Hammersmith Hospitals, before undertaking cardiology training in Brighton and Sussex. Dr Alway is passionate about education and research, which he remains actively involved with. He is also involved in local community work and co-chairs the Cardiomyopathy UK Sussex Support Group. In his spare time he enjoys playing tennis, padel and golf.
