About Dr John Silberbauer

Dr John Silberbauer is a highly regarded Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist based at the Sussex Cardiac Centre, specialising in complex cardiac rhythm disorders and advanced catheter ablation procedures.

He has expertise in the management of complex ventricular and atrial arrhythmias, including advanced ablation techniques, substrate mapping, and cardiac rhythm management.

Dr Silberbauer is internationally recognised for his contribution to cardiac electrophysiology and pioneered the EpiCO2 technique, an innovative approach designed to support safer epicardial access during complex ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation procedures.

He trained in medicine at University of Cambridge and University College London, before completing an MD (Res) at City St George's, University of London. He further specialised in complex arrhythmia care through an advanced EHRA ventricular tachycardia fellowship at San Raffaele Hospital under the mentorship of Dr Paolo Della Bella.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Silberbauer is involved in academic medicine and research. He supervises PhD and MD (Res) students within the Clinical and Experimental Medicine departments at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the University of Sussex. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals and regularly contributes as faculty and speaker at major international cardiology meetings, including the Heart Rhythm Society, Heart Rhythm UK and European Heart Rhythm Association.
