Dr Milena Leo

Dr Milena Leo is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with more than 15 years of experience in general and interventional cardiology, specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. She works at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, where she is actively involved in both clinical care and service development.

Her expertise includes catheter ablation for a wide range of arrhythmias, including supraventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia, atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, ventricular ectopy, and ventricular tachycardia. She also performs device implantations, including Implantable Loop Recorders (ILRs) and pacemakers, as well as cardioversion procedures. To date, Dr Leo has performed more than 1,200 catheter ablations—over 500 of which were complex procedures—alongside more than 1,500 electrophysiological studies and 200 device implantations.

Dr Leo is accredited as a Level 2 Electrophysiologist by the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and combines academic expertise with extensive clinical practice. She has contributed to more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in cardiac electrophysiology and remains actively involved in research and education.

She teaches medical students from the University of Southampton during their cardiology rotations, supervises junior doctors, and delivers simulation-based training for cardiology staff.
