Dr Sohaib Nazir

Dr. Sohaib Nazir is a highly esteemed Consultant Cardiologist renowned for his expertise in general cardiology, heart failure, cardiac imaging, and cardio-oncology. He holds appointments at the prestigious Royal Brompton Hospital and serves as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at King’s College London.

Dr. Nazir's journey in medicine began at Imperial College London, where he graduated with first-class honours in management alongside his medical degree in 2007. Following his junior doctor training at Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, he pursued specialist cardiology training at various esteemed institutions in London, including Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital, King’s College Hospital, and St George’s Hospital.

Dr. Nazir was awarded a Medical Research Council clinical research training fellowship in 2016, enabling him to pursue a PhD in advanced imaging for coronary artery disease at King’s College London. His groundbreaking research has been shared at international conferences and published in esteemed scientific journals.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Nazir specialises in all aspects of general adult cardiology, with a particular focus on chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, and cardiovascular risk factor modification. He has specialised expertise in heart failure and cardio-oncology, holding accreditation from the International Cardio-Oncology Society.

Dr. Nazir is extensively trained in advanced cardiac imaging techniques, including echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT, holding formal accreditation from leading professional associations.

Dr Nazir is an active clinical researcher whose work has contributed substantially to the field of advanced cardiac imaging. His academic output includes numerous original peer-reviewed publications, presentations at international cardiology conferences, and the supervision of cardiology fellows and research students at King's College London.

He is leading on a number of clinical studies related to multimodal imaging in cardio-oncology and coronary artery disease. More recently, as part of a team effort at King’s College London, his team was awarded with a £13million grant from the Medical Research Council for Total Body PET imaging and a €50.5million EU grant (COMPASS project) to advance cardio-oncology care and research for patients with cancer and heart disease. He hopes to use this in the future to improve diagnosis and treatment for patients.

As a passionate educator, Dr. Nazir supervises fellows and research students at King’s College London and has received accolades for his teaching excellence. He plays a pivotal role in designing and delivering local and national teaching programs, earning recognition as the best clinical teacher for St George’s University of London in 2015. Additionally, he serves as the module co-lead for the Clinical Applications of Medical Imaging for the MSc in Healthcare Technologies course at King’s College London.
