Dr Mick Ozkor

Dr Mick Ozkor is a highly esteemed London-based Consultant Cardiologist with 29 years experience who specialises in all aspects of general cardiology and interventional cardiology, his passion for cardiology comes from seeing how the right treatment can transform a patient’s health and quality of life—sometimes almost immediately.  He is well known for his thorough, individualised assessments, clear explanation of findings and treatment options and helping patients make fully informed decisions about their care. Patients recognise and appreciate the paramount importance he gives to listening, understanding their concerns, and seamlessly coordinating investigations and treatments.

Dr Ozkor treats all cardiac symptoms including coronary artery disease, hypertension (high or low blood pressure), elevated cholesterol, heart valve disease (including aortic stenosis), heart rhythm problems, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation.

He can be seen for symptoms including chest pain, chest discomfort, suspected angina, palpitations, heart flutters, irregular heartbeats, ankle swelling, shortness of breath, reduced exercise tolerance, dizzy episodes, blackouts and collapse. Dr Ozkor sees patients looking for assessments and prevention such as preventative cardiology, cardiovascular risk assessments, and perioperative cardiac assessments.

He also specialises in advanced heart interventions such as stenting and balloon angioplasty, and has an extensive amount of experience in relation to radial access procedures as well as performing vein graft intervention, chronic total occlusions, and left main stems. Dr Ozkor is a leader in the field of valve assessments, treatment and replacements, performing minimally invasive Aortic valve replacements (TAVI ) without the need for a general anaesthetic.

Dr Ozkor qualified in medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine and subsequently undertook postgraduate research at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Currently he serves as a Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Director of Interventional and Structural Cardiology at the Barts Heart Centre part of St Bartholomew’s NHS Trust. His previous leadership roles include Clinical Director of Medicine and Cardiovascular Services at North Middlesex Hospital and Cath Lab Director at Barts Heart Centre. He has extensive management and leadership experience across senior NHS roles whilst maintaining a dedicated clinical focus, performing complex procedures on a daily basis.

Impressively, he has previously been directly responsible for running various different clinical governance projects, which included the improvement of access and overall timing to the Heart Attack Centre for all emergency heart conditions. He has guided and advised Nationally and Internationally on behalf of the UK government and The Department for International Development for optimal cardiac pathways.  To-date, he has published an extensive amount of articles and publications in established medical journals, with a strong focus on heart-related conditions.

He is regularly invited to speak at cardiology events worldwide and regularly travel to hospitals across the globe collaborating with international colleagues to stay at the forefront of the field and teach the latest innovations and techniques.

When he's not looking after his patients' hearts, Dr Mick Ozkor enjoys spending quality time with his family and children, as well as indulging his passion for football. Whether he's watching a match, cheering from the sidelines or debating a questionable refereeing decision, football provides a welcome distraction from the world of cardiology.

Much of his spare time is spent running around after his four children, helping his wife juggle their busy schedules, ferrying them between activities and attempting to keep up with their seemingly endless energy. He often jokes that keeping up with his children provides a better cardiovascular workout than any session at the gym!
