Dr Sibtain Anwar

Dr Sibtain Anwar is a Consultant Anaesthetist. Dr Anwar trained in Anaesthesia at Imperial College London, and subsequently specialised in Cardiac Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals. Dr Anwar leads the Pain Service at Barts Heart Centre. Dr Anwar is also the local lead for perioperative care at Barts Heart Centre.

Dr Anwar graduated from the University of Cambridge with First Class Honours in 1999, having read Neuroscience alongside Medicine. Dr Anwar completed clinical training at Imperial College London in 2002. Dr Anwar was a Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Fellow at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals from 2009 to 2010. Dr Anwar completed their PhD in Systems Neuroscience of Persistent Postsurgical Pain at the William Harvey Institute in 2014. Dr Anwar holds an Executive Masters in Health Economics and Management from The London School of Economics and Political Science, awarded in 2022.

Dr Anwar is President of the Pain Medicine Council at the Royal Society of Medicine. Dr Anwar was awarded a Visiting Professorship at Harvard University in 2017. Dr Anwar is an Editor for the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia. Dr Anwar is an Executive Scholar at the European Society of Cardiology and The London School of Economics.
