Dr Shimona Basu is a highly dedicated Consultant Paediatrician who is committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care for children and adolescents. With a clinical focus that spans general, community, and acute paediatrics, she is adept at managing a diverse range of childhood health conditions. Dr Basu is passionate about supporting families through every stage of their child's development, ensuring that young patients receive the highest standard of medical attention in a reassuring and friendly environment.

Her clinical expertise encompasses the management of chronic illnesses, developmental disorders, and preventive paediatric care. Dr Basu has a particular interest in adolescent health, immunisations, and growth and developmental assessments. Additionally, she serves as a lead in adoption and fostering, demonstrating her deep commitment to the holistic well-being of children in all care settings. Dr Basu obtained her primary medical qualification, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), from Newcastle University in 2003. Following her graduation, she pursued specialist training in paediatrics, earning a Diploma in Child Health (DCH) and a Master of Science (MSc). She is a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH). Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Basu is actively involved in medical education, serving as a College Tutor and contributing to the training and mentorship of junior medical staff and students.
