Dr Sarah Thomasset

Dr Sarah Thomasset is a highly skilled Consultant Hepatobiliary and General Surgeon who also serves as Clinical Director of General Surgery. Known for her patient-centred approach and commitment to clinical excellence, Dr Thomasset provides compassionate and tailored care to meet each patient's individual needs. Her clinical practice encompasses both elective and emergency general surgical care, with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment and collaborative care planning.

Her primary areas of clinical interest lie within hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery. Dr Thomasset possesses expertise in pancreatic resectional surgery as well as the advanced management of severe acute pancreatitis and complex gallstone disease. She is proficient in specialised endoscopic procedures, including ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), and maintains a dedicated interest in acute emergency general surgery.

Dr Thomasset completed her medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), at the University of Leicester, qualifying in 2003. She subsequently achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Leicester in 2009 for her research examining the chemoprevention of colorectal cancer and colorectal cancer liver metastases. Demonstrating an ongoing commitment to surgical training and academic development, she earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education in 2011 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education in 2012 from Cardiff University. Dr Thomasset is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS).
