Dr Ramesh Arasaradnam is a highly distinguished Consultant Gastroenterologist and Professor of Gastroenterology who is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients with complex digestive and bowel disorders. His pioneering research spans colon cancer biomarkers, bile acid pathophysiology, the gut microbiome, and the integration of artificial intelligence in capsule endoscopy. Notably, he was awarded an OBE in 2020 for his outstanding services to healthcare and clinical research.
Dr Arasaradnam obtained his primary medical qualification (MB BCh BAO) from Queen's University Belfast in 1996. He subsequently completed his specialist training in gastroenterology within the Sheffield Deanery and went on to earn a PhD from Newcastle University, focusing on molecular developments in colon cancer. He holds a Certificate in Clinical Education and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London, as well as a Fellow of the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is also an active member of the British Society of Gastroenterology and the Midlands Gastroenterological Society.
