About Dr Esther Unitt
Dr Esther Unitt is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and The Meriden Hospital. Graduating from the University of Nottingham School of Medicine in 1995, she underwent higher specialist training in gastroenterology and general internal medicine across East Anglia, obtaining MRCP in 1998. Her postgraduate training took place primarily at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where her clinical research on the Liver Unit earned her a Doctorate in Medicine (DM) from Nottingham University in 2007.
Appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in 2007, Dr Unitt serves as Clinical Service Lead for the Gastroenterology/Hepatology department at UHCW Hospital in Coventry. Her clinical practice covers diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and FibroScan evaluation. She has a dedicated subspecialty focus on liver disease, including alcohol-related liver disease, viral hepatitis, fatty liver, and cirrhosis management, alongside general gastrointestinal disorders such as reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), abdominal pain, constipation and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
