Professor Victor Tsang is Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, and Professor of Cardiac Surgery at University College London.
After graduating from the Westminster Medical School, University of London, Prof Victor Tsang undertook his cardiothoracic surgical training with Mr Christopher Lincoln at the Royal Brompton and London Chest Hospitals. For two years he was a Lecturer and Research Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute under Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub. Following this, he continued his paediatric cardiac surgical training with Dr Roger Mee at Melbourne Children's Hospital in Australia. He took up his first consultancy post at Southampton University Hospital in 1994, before being appointed to Great Ormond Street, where he's worked for over 20 years, specialising in neonatal and complex infant cardiac surgery. He has also been the leading cardiac surgeon in adult congenital heart surgery at Barts Cardiac centre in the City of London.
Prof Tsang has carried out operations in Scandinavia, Germany, and China / Hong Kong, as well as leading charity missions with the Chain of Hope (UK) in Jamaica, Jordan and Ethiopia. He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed articles and is one of the three editors of a world-renowned paediatric cardiac surgical textbook (Surgery for Congenital Heart Defects, 3ed. Stark, de Leval and Tsang). He is regularly invited to speak at both national and international conferences.
