About Professor Jaydip Ray

Prof. Jaydip Ray is a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Professor of Otology / Neurotology at the University of Sheffield.

He completed higher surgical training in ENT in the West Midlands and gained fellowship experience in the California, USA; Cambridge, UK; and Sydney, Australia. His PhD was on complex hearing loss and implantable hearing solutions. His clinical interests cover complex hearing and balance disorders, Implantable hearing devices and general ENT.


Prof. Ray is a member of the Otology Council of the Royal Society of Medicine and is member of the Court of Examiners of the Joint Council of Intercollegiate Examinations and examines regularly for the Final FRCS examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons.

He is the academic representative to the Specialist Advisory Committee of the Royal College of Surgeons and Training Programme Director for ENT in Yorkshire & Humber Deanery. He has an active role in training, teaching, supervising and examining PhD, MD, MSc and BMedSci students on various research projects. He also lectures widely and is involved in several international and national courses.

Prof. Jaydip Ray is also the national Deputy Specialty Lead for ENT Clinical Research Network which is part of the National Institute for Health Research. He is also the Vice President of British Otolaryngology and Allied Research Society. His main research interests include Management of Balance disorders,Complex Hearing loss and Implantable Hearing Solutions.. He has been the chief investigator on several multi centre national and international research projects.
