Mr Graham Phillips is an Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialist.
Mr Phillips studied at Jesus College in Cambridge. He completed his undergraduate clinical training at St. Mary's/Imperial College School of Medicine in London. He undertook early postgraduate training at St. Mary’s London and Central Middlesex hospitals. This was followed by a three-year training scheme at Kingston Hospital, Surrey which included Neonatology, Paediatrics, A&E and GP. Mr Phillips then specialised in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and spent a year at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, followed by Guys and St. Thomas’ Hospital and Tunbridge Wells. In the early 1990s, Mr Phillips developed an interest in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and moved to Middlesbrough to work as a surgical training fellow to Professor Ray Garry.
Mr Phillips has been training surgeons for over 25 years and is the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) preceptor in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He is the only one in the region and one of only 14 nationwide, meaning that he trains very senior doctors who are themselves about to become trainers. He is on the Scientific Advisory Committee of the BSGE and has contributed much to this and to gynaecological research over the years.
