Dr Oliver Bagshaw

Dr Oliver Bagshaw is a highly accomplished Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist who specialises in delivering expert anaesthetic care and critical care support for infants, children, and young people. With a dedicated focus on the field of Paediatrics, he is committed to ensuring the safety, comfort, and clinical well-being of young patients undergoing surgical procedures. His reassuring and patient-centred approach helps to alleviate anxiety for both children and their families during what can often be a stressful time.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of paediatric anaesthesia and intensive care services. Dr Bagshaw has a particular clinical interest in total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) and target-controlled infusion (TCI) in children, areas in which he has published extensive research and contributed to national safety guidelines. His expertise also extends to paediatric pain management, paediatric resuscitation, and the complex medical management of critically ill children, including those presenting with rare or common congenital syndromes.

Dr Bagshaw obtained his primary medical qualification from the University of Birmingham, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), which represents the gold standard in anaesthetic training and practice. Dedicated to professional leadership and education, he has served as the Honorary Treasurer for the Paediatric Intensive Care Society (PICS) and remains an active contributor to the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (APAGBI).
