Mr Walter Douie

Mr Walter Douie is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon and accredited Endoscopist based in Plymouth. He completed his degree at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 1989 and completed further training in South Africa before moving to the UK to train in Edinburgh. He was first appointed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon in 2003 in Plymouth. He currently practices at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital and Derriford Hospital.

Mr Douie has proven expertise in both benign and malignant colorectal disease and has particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease. He also has special interests in hernia surgery, laparoscopic hernia repair, pilonidal sinus surgery and haemorrhoid banding.

In his current position as a consultant colorectal surgeon, he offers a range of treatments and tests, including: colonoscopy, colorectal screening, coloproctology, cholecystectomy, skin lesion removal, sigmoidoscopy, gastroscopy, splenectomy, haemorrhoidectomy and laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Douie is a Member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
