About Mr Geoffrey Stranks

I have worked as a general orthopaedic surgeon in the North Hampshire area since 1995.

I have a particular interest in hip arthroplasty (replacement) and have pioneered the minimally invasive approach to replacing the hip in conjunction with colleagues at the North Hampshire Hospital. We have a rapid recovery programme in place as well allowing day case Arthroplasty when appropriate. I also enjoy complex hip revision surgery.

My practice includes knee and hemi-knee relacement surgery as well as knee arthroscopy and treatment of torn cartilage, management of fractures.

I also treat hand problems such as Dupuytrens contractures, trigger fingers and Carpal Tunnel syndrome.

I am married to ex -nurse Juliet and have 2 sons. We enjoy cycling, walking and skiing and I go for an occasional run. I also like to maintain and drive my 1966 Triumph Herald convertible.

Have continued to participate in ongoing orthopedic research throughout my career which has resulted in publication of papers in orthopaedic journals. I have also spoken at scientific meetings nationally and internationally.

I have a keen interest in the education and training of junior doctors and have been an examiner for the FRCS orthopaedic exam on many accasions.
