About Mr Dan Armstrong

Mr Dan Armstrong is a Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre in Derby, specialising exclusively in conditions affecting the hand and wrist. He provides comprehensive care for the full spectrum of hand and wrist disorders, with a particular interest in complex wrist problems.

Mr Armstrong graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2002 and completed his orthopaedic training in the Trent Region, successfully gaining the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics). He undertook specialist hand surgery training at centres of excellence in Derby, Nottingham, and Oxford, where he was appointed as the National Hand Fellow at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and John Radcliffe Hospital. He also holds the British Postgraduate Diploma in Hand Surgery, awarded by the University of Manchester.

His clinical focus includes the management of complications following wrist fractures, such as malunions, hardware-related problems, post-traumatic carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendon injuries. He regularly treats patients who require corrective procedures for previous wrist injuries, including osteotomies and tendon reconstructions.

Mr Armstrong has contributed to research in hand surgery during his time with Professor Frank Burke at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre and remains actively involved in the advancement of clinical practice in hand and wrist surgery.

Dan put me at ease right away and I instantly felt like I was talking to someone who not only knew their stuff but listened thoroughly to my health concerns. After doing his initial assessment and ordering some more tests he set about treating me with some immediate remedial intervention. Thank you Dan :)
