About Mr David Dickson
Mr David Dickson is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in hand and wrist surgery. He practises privately at The Yorkshire Clinic and holds an NHS consultant appointment at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Dickson manages the full spectrum of hand and wrist conditions, including carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral nerve entrapment, Dupuytren's disease, trigger finger, De Quervain's tenosynovitis, ganglion cysts, rheumatoid arthritis, thumb and hand arthritis, fractures of the hand, fingers and wrist, scaphoid injuries, wrist ligament injuries and degenerative wrist arthritis. He has particular expertise in wrist arthroscopy, joint replacement surgery, motion-preserving procedures and complex reconstructive surgery.
Mr Dickson studied medicine at the University of Nottingham before completing basic surgical training in Yorkshire. He undertook specialist orthopaedic training within the Yorkshire Deanery, gaining extensive experience across a number of major hospitals. Following completion of his specialist training, he completed advanced fellowships at Wrightington Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth and Royal Orthopaedic Hospitals in Birmingham, where he developed expertise in hand and wrist reconstruction, nerve surgery, wrist arthroscopy, joint replacement and complex hand trauma. He began consultant practice in 2016 and successfully completed the British Society for Surgery of the Hand Diploma in Hand Surgery.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Dickson is actively involved in teaching and training. He has authored book chapters on hand and wrist conditions, teaches on specialist surgical courses and supports the education of orthopaedic trainees and general practitioners. He is a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Mr Dickson is one of the best clinicians I have ever met. He’s operated on me three times and each time the care, attention to detail and results have been 100 percent. I have FND, OA and VTOS with wear and tear on my spine. Mr Dickson was very careful to do a thorough check re my other conditions before operating. He’s a really decent man who considers the bigger picture for his patients. His expertise is second to none and his personal skills match this. It’s not easy being a medic in today’s political climate Mr Dickson is always kind supportive and good humoured. During surgery I felt very safe and in good hands. We need more medics like this. Thank you so much.
To discuss an operation I am having. Mr. Dickson is extremely friendly and gets all the information I need in a clear manner and also answered any questions I had. He was brilliant and puts me at ease.
Appointment on time. Mr. DICKson pleasant and chatty as usual.Explained how he operated and what he had done and how to exercise and cope with iti in the next few weeks. If any later questions or need to see him told just to phone the clinic. Felt unwell .as leaving was dealt with by Mr Dickson and nurse swiftly and put at ease.
The whole experience was excellent. Comfortable waiting area. And Mr Dickson explained everything very clearly.
Was invited in to see Mr Dickson at the appointed time and he was very pleasant and took time to explain the procedure in detail of my forthcoming op. He gave me a date for surgery during this time.
