Mr Andrew Young is a consultant orthopaedic spine surgeon in Kettering who is based at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust and Woodlands Hospital. He specialises in all areas of general spinal surgery, low back and neck pain, and surgical management. His clinical interests are in degenerative spinal conditions and in particular the use of minimally invasive techniques. He has research interests in the biomechanical engineering aspects of surgery.
Mr Young gained his MBBS from the University of London in 2001, before undertaking his surgical training. He also holds a bachelor's degree in immunology as well as a master's in orthopaedic engineering. Mr Young spent time at the University of Leicester Teaching Hospitals where he completed his specialist orthopaedic training before earning an accredited senior clinal fellowship in advanced spine surgery at Nottingham.
Mr Young is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons and a reviewer for the BMJ. He is also passionate about medical education and has taught on numerous courses.
