Dr Micheal Taylor

Dr Micheal Taylor is a dedicated Consultant Paediatric Neurologist who specialises in the assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management of children and young people with neurological conditions. Adopting a compassionate and family-centred approach, Dr Taylor collaborates closely with young patients and their families to create tailored management plans for complex medical needs. His practice emphasises holistic, patient-oriented care, supporting families through every step of diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic intervention, and ongoing management.

Dr Taylor completed his primary medical qualification, MBBCh BAO, alongside an intercalated BSc in Anatomy at Queen's University Belfast. He went on to undertake extensive specialist training in general Paediatrics followed by subspecialist higher training in Paediatric Neurology. A recognised professional in his field, Dr Taylor is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and a Member of the British Paediatric Neurology Association. He also serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer, actively contributing to clinical research and undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.

His clinical areas of expertise include paediatric epilepsy, childhood headaches, and complex migraine disorders. Dr Taylor has a dedicated focus on rare and severe epileptic encephalopathies, such as Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, alongside neuroinflammatory disorders including autoimmune encephalitis, multiple sclerosis, and MOGAD. Additionally, he evaluates children with movement disorders, gait abnormalities, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and unexplained fits, faints, or funny turns. His treatment approach includes specialised pharmacological care, diagnostic neuroimaging evaluation, and targeted procedures such as greater occipital nerve injections for severe paediatric head pain.
