About Mr Louay Louis
Mr Louay Louis is a Consultant Gynaecologist at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital and the former Lead Clinician for Gynaecological Oncology and advanced endometriosis at the Trust. He is a registered gynaecologist for colposcopy, hysteroscopy (including outpatient), and is a BSGE qualified gynaecologist for treating severe deep infiltrating endometriosis. He is also proficient in laparoscopic surgery (including laparoscopic hysterectomy) and has received advanced training in gynaecological oncology, colposcopy, and minimal access surgery/hysteroscopy under ATSM.
Mr Louis gained his medical qualification from the Society of Apothecaries with Barts and the London Medical School in 2001. Following this, he worked in a number of departments as a House Officer, gaining his foundation medical training. Following this, he achieved a place on the obstetrics and gynaecology training programme in 2003 and went on to work at large district general hospitals, as well as notable teaching institutions such as the world-famous Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital. Mr Louis later acquired his national training number from the East of England Deanery and became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Furthering his professional education, in 2010 he undertook a PhD at Imperial College London where his research focused on the role of the OPCML tumour suppressor gene in ovarian cancer. Mr Louis finished his Obstetrics and Gynaecology training and became a consultant in 2016.
Since then, in addition to his role as lead clinician for gynaecological oncology and advanced endometriosis surgery at his hospital trust, Mr Louis has had several publications published in peer-reviewed journals, as well as book chapters and has conducted a number of talks at national and international level. Since 2024, Mr Louis has been working part time for the NHS
