About Mr Jeya Palan
I trained in London at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, and then went on to gain a 1st class Immunology degree at University College London.
I've worked abroad in Brisbane (Australia), and my surgical training was in Oxford and Leicester. I've carried out specialist fellowship training in primary and revision hip and knee surgery at Nottingham, Coventry and Oxford. I have also undertaken travelling fellowships at the Mount Sinai centre in Toronto and Vancouver (Canada).
I have a PhD from Leicester looking at hip and knee replacement outcomes, and now I'm a Consultant Hip and Knee surgeon and senior lecturer at Chapel Allerton Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary.
I was President of BOTA (British Orthopaedics Trainees Association) and have served on the Royal College of Surgeons England and the British Orthopaedic Association councils.
I'm a keen researcher and have published over 40 research papers, have written several orthopaedic texts, and I've been the Associate Editor of the Bone and Joint Journal (the main British orthopaedic journal).
I'm delighted to be able to offer a private practice service for patients who are struggling with hip and knee arthritis, and who want to explore their options.
I have a great team around me to assist in your care, including Rachel, my private medical secretary. She is available for patient queries Monday to Friday, and my patients find her guiding support immensely helpful.

After months of pain in my left hip and thigh I made an appointment to see Mr Palan in order to discuss my options. After the appointment I decided to go ahead with a total hip replacement, which was arranged for a few weeks hence. This involved a one night stay in the hospital, excellent care from Mr Palan and all staff concerned. The operation was successful and I no longer have pain. After four months I am fully mobile and pain free. A very happy patient,
A pleasant meeting with Mr Palan when we both confirmed the hip replacement appears to have been a success. I do still have some residual pain, especially upon standing, after being seated, but I hope this will gradually disappear over the coming months. Mr Palan is a very approachable gentleman.
Mr Palin is one of THE nicest and most professional consultants I have ever consulted. From the very first moment I entered the consulting room he instantly put me at ease. His explanations were clear . He showed great care and sympathy. Never rushing our consultations. Always readily available to cotact.

Mr Palan is a friendly and helpful surgeon. He explains everything well and put me at my ease.
I had a whole host of questions and concerns I had about my recent hip replacement surgery. Mr Palan went through each and everyone of my concerns not only answering them but giving full background explanations for the answers which put my mind at rest. Although I can play golf now my rugby boots are retired.
Absolutely fantastic has totally changed my life I now gym daily and run 5k at least once a week pain free
