Here is a summary of my experience with Mr Shannak regarding my recent hip replacement surgery on 21 April 2026. Having managed my deteriorating original hip replacements for a number of years, I am deeply appreciative of the professionalism and diligence you have consistently shown. I am conscious of the case-load challenges persistently facing our NHS. He consistently engaged with me, explaining in clear detail my surveillance test results and the risks involved. ​Heading into this operation, I was naturally anxious, being fully aware of the inherent risks involved. However, the clarity with which you explained the mechanics of the procedure and the construction of the new joints was invaluable. As an engineer, I truly valued your technical transparency; it addressed all my concerns and allowed me to approach the surgery with confidence. ​I would also like to commend his wider surgical and medical teams. Their skill and professionalism throughout the process were outstanding. The entire experience—from the preoperative discussions to the surgical procedure itself—was exemplary. ​Most importantly, I am relieved to report that I am now free from the excruciating pain I was previously experiencing. I am currently working with the physiotherapy team to focus on muscle strengthening, and I am very pleased with the results delivered by your team. ​I can't thank him, and his NGH colleagues enough for their expertise and for their life-improving care of me. Mr Shannak is a very pleasant gentleman. He kept me informed about my procedure and what to expect when it was completed. He showed me my xrays and explained what was involved in the operation he carried out. A faultless performance.

I appreciated Mr Shannak’s concise answers to my questions concerning my operation. His professional and friendly approach helped boost my confidence a good outcome to my recovery.

The schedule was running late, but I didn’t need to be anywhere after so that was ok with me. Had an xray and then meeting with Mr Shannak. He is always very polite and puts you at ease, as consultations can be an anxious time.
