About Mr Conal Quah
Mr Conal Quah is a fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in lower limb arthroplasty. His NHS practice is based at Royal Derby Hospital, where he also offers private consultations through Derby Private Health, the hospital’s dedicated private patient unit. He is experienced in performing total hip and knee replacements, as well as complex revision procedures, and has particular expertise in managing periprosthetic fractures, bone loss, and joint infections. He also carries out arthroscopic knee surgery and supports enhanced recovery approaches to help patients regain mobility more quickly and safely.
Mr Quah completed his medical degree at the University of Dundee before undertaking his surgical training in the North East and East Midlands. He then pursued further specialist training through national and international fellowships, gaining wide-ranging experience in advanced joint reconstruction techniques. Alongside his clinical work, Mr Quah has a strong commitment to teaching and research. Mr Quah performed a total right hip replacement on me in 2022. This went extremely well. He explained everything clearly to me and my post-operative care was excellent. This year, I needed my left hip replacing and because of my earlier experience, I requested that this was done by Mr Quah. Again, all elements of what was to come and what I should expect were explained to me clearly. The operation was successful and recovery has been quick. I fully recommend Mr Quah

I had my revision knee replacement in May and my life has changed for the better no more pain so happy with the outcome
As always Mr Quah was very pleasant. He explained my ongoing recovery clearly, ran through my latest X-ray and answered my questions in an easily understandable way. All in all I am very happy with the outcome of my hip replacement and the way it has been handled from first consultation to my 6 week follow up consultation.
Everything was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and the Consultant And all staff were excellent, just do what the physio says and ensure you complete all designated exercises
