Are you Professor Gisli Jenkins?
Based at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Professor Gisli Jenkins is a respiratory physician with more than 20 years of experience managing interstitial lung diseases. He is also involved in research and studies the lung's response to injury to further understand the process of pulmonary fibrosis, repair, and regeneration. in 2020, Professor Jenkins achieved the European Respiratory Society Gold Medal in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Professor Jenkins undertook his medical training at the University of Southampton before moving to London to complete his postgraduate training in respiratory medicine. After completing basic scientific training (funded by an ARC fellowship), he obtained a PhD in biochemistry from University College London. He then undertook further post-doctoral studies at the University of California funded by an ARC Clinician Scientist Fellowship. Following this, Professor Jenkins joined the University of Nottingham as a clinical senior lecturer, and he established the Academic Interstitial Lung Disease Unit there.
Professor Jenkins is also a member of a number of societies and is the joint Editor-in-Chief of the official journal of the British Thoracic Society. He has also previously been chair of the British Thoracic Society Science and Research Committee.
