About Dr. Sandip Kamakhya Banerjee
Dr Sandip Kamakhya Banerjee is a Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine practicing across London, Maidstone and Cranbrook. Currently serving as Clinical Director of the specialist medicine programme at Medway NHS Foundation Trust he has extensive experience across respiratory and acute general medicine, with particular expertise in airway disease, including asthma, COPD, and bronchiectasis, as well as sleep-related breathing disorders and parasomnias. With his clinical work covering the management of breathlessness and chronic cough.
Dr Banerjee performs a range of specialist procedures, including bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing, and ultrasound-guided pleural aspiration. He also provides assessment and investigation for sleep disorders including sleep investigations, reflecting his sub-specialist interest in sleep medicine and respiratory support.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Mumbai in 1996 and went on to complete postgraduate training in Respiratory Medicine and Critical Care in India. He later moved to the UK, where he gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, completed specialist training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and received his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Respiratory Medicine in 2013. In 2018, he was also awarded an MD (Research) from the University of Hertfordshire.

I was really impressed by Dr Banerjee‘s approach. He really did listen to everything I had to say and then in turn he explained everything in detail to me. I can’t recommend him enough and really getting into the bottom of what the problem is taking time to understand everything and also then the Laymans term explanation of the situation possibilities and next steps the Support from his PA to book the Appointments was fantastic, especially as I had to cancel an appointment at short notice. Overall, a really good experience worth paying for the private appointment.
Dr Banerjee is an exceptional doctor who has treated me for shortness of breath since early June. He explained clearly the options and the likely outcome. I would highly recommend Dr Banerjee to anyone that has a respiratory problem. His secretary Hannah Scott has dealt with my appointments and paper work efficiently and with kindness.
What a kind, emotionally intelligent clinician. He put me at ease, answered all my queries and did not make me feel bad for asking anything. I left feeling uplifted and positive about my treatment and relieved that it was what I wanted, not what I’d been ‘told to do’. Thank you so much!
