Dr. Sunil Patel

Dr Sunil Patel is a Consultant Physician specialising in respiratory, general and intensive care medicine. He currently sees private patients at Harley Street Clinic, Cromwell Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and Clementine Churchill Hospital. He has extensive experience in all aspects of respiratory disease but sub-specialises in interstitial lung disease (which includes pulmonary fibrosis) and respiratory failure which includes the investigation and diagnostic workup of patients with symptoms of cough, shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing. He is also experienced with diagnostic bronchoscopy, chest ultrasound and associated interventions.

As an accredited consultant in intensive care medicine, Dr Patel is responsible for the care of patients before and after major/complex surgery and those who are critically unwell.

Dr Patel completed bachelors degrees in Chemistry (BSc) and Biomedical Science (BMedSci) followed by his medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Nottingham. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians UK (MRCP) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM).

His research interests focus on critical illness associated muscle wasting and associated imaging techniques and assessment. He obtained his PhD from Imperial College London and holds an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer post within the department of anaesthesia, pain medicine and intensive care.
