Dr Gemma Faulkner

Dr Gemma Faulkner is an accomplished Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon who provides high-quality, patient-centred care. She specialises in the diagnosis and surgical management of a wide array of gastrointestinal conditions, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders. Adopting a reassuring and clear communication style, Dr Faulkner works closely with patients to ensure they feel fully supported and well-informed at every stage of their treatment journey.

Her expertise encompasses both emergency general surgery and elective complex abdominal procedures. Dr Faulkner has a particular clinical interest in pelvic floor dysfunction, including conditions such as faecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, rectocele, and complex anal or rectovaginal fistulae. She regularly performs minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures and specialist interventions such as sacral neuromodulation and sphincter repairs, while integrating enhanced recovery protocols to promote a smooth, comfortable recovery.

Dr Faulkner completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at The University of Manchester in 2013 and holds a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. In addition to her clinical practice, she is deeply committed to surgical education and clinical research. She has held major professional leadership appointments, including serving as a Regional Director for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and as a Specialty Lead for surgical clinical trials in Greater Manchester.
