Dr Erika Damato is a Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist with over 10 years of experience in ophthalmology. She currently sees patients at Addenbrooke's Hospital and Moorfields Hospital, as well as private patients at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital and Moorfields Private Eye Hospital in Cambridge. Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge is renowned as a specialised centre for uveitis, where Dr Damato receives referrals, both locally and regionally. 

Dr Damato completed her medical degree at University College London in 2003. She later completed her specialist training at Bristol Eye Hospital, followed by fellowships in ocular oncology, diabetic retinopathy, and uveitis. She is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Before joining Addenbrooke's, she served as a consultant in uveitis and medical retina at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre in central Birmingham. 

Dr Damato is among a select few specialist medical ophthalmologists in the UK. Her practice is dedicated to the comprehensive management of patients with inflammatory eye conditions, uveitis, thyroid eye disease, and systemic diseases affecting the eye. This includes patients with systemic inflammatory or autoimmune conditions featuring ocular manifestations, as well as cases involving infections or malignancies with ocular involvement. She has extensive experience in using immunosuppressive and biologic therapies for treating these conditions. Dr Damato also has expertise in the treatment and management of general eye concerns.

I really appreciated Dr Damato's time and knowledge. I did not feel at all rushed in my appointment and felt she really allowed me the space to ask all myself questions, making sure I really understood my condition and further treatment options. Her empathy and demeanour were also excellent.
