About

Mr Mutema is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in
Urogynaecology.

He achieved his undergraduate qualification in 2001 and subsequently undertook training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the Northwest deanery, where I gained a wider experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology patient management. Mr Mutema then undertook further sub-specialty training in Urogynaecology at Liverpool Women's Hospital, where he widened his experience in all aspects of female pelvic floor problems including vaginal prolapse, obstetric anal sphincter injuries and urinary incontinence.

Mr Mutema was awarded the certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with in 2015 and I have been working as a consultant at Blackpool Teaching Hospital NHS Trust since then.

Within urogynaecology, Mr Mutema's main area of expertise is in the management of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence. With evidence favouring better recovery and outcomes from day case surgery, he has spearheaded day case pelvic floor surgery and vaginal hysterectomy practice within his region since becoming a consultant.
Mr Mutema is also a highly skilled Laparoscopic surgeon treating menstrual problems and pelvic pain.

Explanation

Mr Mutema was superb all the way through. Put me at ease in the initial consultation and explained the best way to do my hysterectomy in the least invasive way. Everything went perfectly to plan, staff were wonderful at Blackpool Spire Hospital . We paid privately to avoid NHS waiting list but worth every penny as and my life is back on track. I would recommend Mr Mutema and Blackpool Spire to anyone who is considering going private.

Explanation

I can not praise Mr Mutema highly enough. He has completed 3 gynae procedures on me- Fenton's procedure, c-section and most recently a total laproscopic hysterectomy. Each and every time I have met with him, either prior to or following surgeries, he has always made me feel listened to, explained things in full to me and answered any questions I have had, allowing me to make an informed decision regarding my treatments. I have always felt very well looked after and confident under his care, always being treated in a dignified manner. He is a genuinely caring, gentle and empathic clinician. It is very clear he is an expert in his field and although I hope to not need any further gynae input, if I did, I would only want him! All of my surgical scars are cosmetically amazing and I have recovered well without complications after each procedure. He has an excellent bed side manner. So.... very highly reccomended... and coming from a nurse who is in contact with many medical professionals. I have been under his care as both an NHS and private patient. A***** thank you!

I found Mr Mutema very helpful on my visit to Spire this week, I was very emotional and worried, he spent time to explain, was very empathetic and understanding towards me and I learnt much about my condition I did not know. I would also like to say the nurse that was on duty with him was great, I can only say I received a first class service from both of them
