Dr Oluwagbenga Odeyemi is a highly experienced Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist at Priory Wellbeing Centre. He is the consultant and clinical lead for the psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) for young adults aged 18-25 years old. Dr Odeyemi also provides outstanding care to patients in the general adult acute ward for young adults.
Dr Odeyemi graduated at the top of his class from medical school in 1998, in Nigeria, and has worked diligently in the field of psychiatry since 2001. He completed his postgraduate psychiatric training with Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust and University of Nottingham, achieving his member Of Royal College of Psychiatrist status (MRCPsych) in 2007 and obtaining the certificate completion of training (CCT) from the UK's General Medical Council (GMC), with distinction, in 2011.
Dr Odeyemi works with the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (NAPICU) and has contributed to improving standards within PICUs. He is part of several committees that are dedicated to ensuring continuous improvement of standards within the PICU, with a focus on least restrictive practice and patient-centred care. Dr Odeyemi has also been an active peer reviewer for the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Electroconvulsive Therapy Accreditation Service.
When managing patients, Dr Odeyemi takes a holistic approach which involves the patient, and family or carers where appropriate. This allows him to develop an individualised, robust and bespoke formulation and management plan. As a consultant psychiatrist, he has extensive experience working within both inpatient and outpatient care settings. He provides the highest quality of care to his patients by using only the most up-to-date and evidence-based approaches to psycho-pharmacological treatment and supportive psychological interventions.
