About Dr. Alina Vaida

Dr Alina Vaida is a Consultant Psychiatrist in Medical Psychotherapy and General Adult Psychiatry, working across both the NHS and private practice.

At Midland Health, she provides care for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety disorders, mood instability, complex trauma, ADHD, ASD and functional disorders.

In her NHS role, Dr Vaida is the psychotherapy tutor for her trust, being in charge of the psychotherapy training for psychiatry residents. She works with the liaison team and across the trust, supporting patients with complex mental health difficulties, such as personality disorders, functional disorders, dissociative disorders, mood and anxiety disorders.

Keeping in mind early trauma and neurodivergence, Dr Vaida helps clients
make sense of their experiences and symptoms. She integrates expertise in psychodynamic, DBT, and CBT therapies within psychiatric care. Her psychotherapy expertise is particularly useful for patients unsure if they need psychotherapy, medication, or both, as she can offer advice about which psychotherapy modality would be most suitable.

Her assessments can range from a one-off psychiatric assessment with tailored recommendations to ongoing psychiatric care, including psychiatric reviews and psychodynamic formulation sessions. The appropriate pathway is discussed during your appointment or booking process.

Psychiatry or a memory clinic

I recently saw Dr. Vaida for a private psychiatry appointment after being (unfortunately) messed around for a long time by NHS mental health services. The difference in approach / professionalism / sincerity was night and day - I felt genuinely listened to during the appointment, and was extremely satisfied with the outcome - a formal diagnosis and care plan with no ridiculous wait time. Crucially, I felt that my situation and experiences were considered seriously and thoroughly, not simply dismissed with minimal critical thought as they had been too many times before. Mental health care like this saves lives and I am so relieved to finally feel like I can move forward. Thank you again to Dr Vaida :)

Before stepping into Dr Vaida’s office for my ADHD assessment, I was extremely nervous. I had only recently realised, at the not‑so‑young age of 41, that this might finally explain a lifetime of not quite fitting in, not always understanding—or being understood—and carrying a heavy sense of guilt about choices I’d made along the way. While I have always taken responsibility for my mistakes, not knowing why I felt so different was honestly soul‑destroying. Finding out the reason has been one of those “OH… of course!” moments. A bit like every month when you feel inexplicably awful and then suddenly remember why — clarity doesn’t fix everything overnight, but it explains so much, and that alone is incredibly powerful. Dr Vaida is calm, compassionate, and immediately put me at ease. She never made me feel foolish for my answers and consistently validated experiences I have struggled with my whole life. For the first time, I felt genuinely listened to and understood. Over time, I have come to truly trust her and felt safe sharing difficult parts of my past, knowing she wanted the full picture. Like many people, I had moments of doubt, but every conversation with Dr Vaida, alongside my own research, has only reinforced the clarity and reality of the diagnosis. Beyond the assessment, Dr Vaida has also supported me in making healthier choices to benefit both my mental and physical wellbeing. With her guidance, I have identified underlying medical issues and started addressing them. I finally feel I am on the right path, even if it is a long one. I am incredibly grateful for her pr...

I had a follow-up appointment to check in on how I'd been getting on since starting Elvanse and to review my prescription. Dr. Vaida took the time to ask thoughtful questions about different areas of my life and was clear about the next steps.

Dr Alina listened to me attentively. She is extremely insightful and very knowledgeable in her field. She reassured me of my concerns; and she made it very clear that although FND can be considered psychologically driven its physical impacts are real therefore it’s also falls under neurological conditions. I have decided to continue working with Dr Alina to deep dive and search for solutions to my problems. Alongside working with her direction to find support for the physical symptoms associated with this condition.

The doctor was very friendly and patient with me. She listened to everything I had to say and explained everything herself very clearly. She did everything she could to help and fulfilled my expectations for the appointment exactly. I am very appreciative.
