Dr. Bernadette Coker

Dr Bernadette Coker is a Senior Consultant with 22 years' experience in treating patients with all medical and respiratory problems. She has a particular interest in sleep disorder assessment and treatments. She is a Lead Physician in acute non-invasive ventilation, which improves survival of patients with respiratory failure.

She provides assesments and treatments for COVID-19 illness with its long term complications.

Dr Coker also developed a comprehensive sleep service for patients suffering from sleep disorders and has a particular expertise in treating patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome. Dr Coker also implemented innovative treatments and techniques for patients with pleural effusions. She is a champion of patients' safety and delivers high quality of care, which she has been awarded a Clinical Excellence Award.

She launched a modern allergy service with comprehensive testing and immunotherapy.

Dr Coker is an accomplished medical teacher and trainer. She established a number of national courses for doctors, which more information can be found on www.fordoctorsbydoctors.co.uk. She is promoting and leading on simulation training for doctors to improve patient's safety and outcomes. Dr Coker is recognised as an Excellent Clinical Supervisor and she was ACCS Faculty Member in London Deanery assessing and recruiting doctors into speciality training.

Her research interests include sleep related breathing disorders, periodic limb movement disorders and non-invasive techniques to treat these conditions, allergy assessments and it's the most effective treatments including immunotherapy, very accurate assessments and excellent treatments for pleural effusions related to respiratory infections and lung cancer. She has published a number of scientific articles in these areas and she is regularly invited to lecture at national and international meetings.

Dr Coker sees all general medical and respiratory patients but has a special interest in the assessments of sleep problems, breathlessness, chest pains, cough and allergy testing. She works exclusively in HCA London Bridge Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic.
