Dr Abbi Lulsegged is a consultant physician with a specialist interest in endocrinology and diabetes. He undertook his undergraduate training at Guy's Hospital Medical School, qualifying in 1994. He later went on to complete his specialist training in diabetes and endocrinology, working at both North and South Thames Deaneries, alongside postings at University College Hospital, the Royal Free and Guys St Thomas' Hospitals. Later in his career, he was appointed a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in recognition of his service to his field and medicine in general.
He has a passion for his chosen speciality and enjoys the variety of unselected cases requiring specialist endocrine and diabetes input including thyroid adrenal, pituitary, bone/calcium metabolism, parathyroid, reproductive endocrinology, obesity, and diabetes. He strongly believes in updating himself and has attended training programmes with some of the top institutions in the world.
Due to the overlap with endocrinological disorders, he also sees patients with specific complaints such as tiredness and excessive sweating. Not only this, he has a vested interest in nutrition and integrative (general) medicine and sees patients who have unexplained symptoms or those who fall in the category of general medical conditions. Furthermore, he has a particular interest in the management of unexplained illnesses, obesity and reversing type 2 diabetes, when conditions allow. He believes strongly in trying to determine the root cause(s) of a patient's problems and treating patients holistically. He sees patients from all over the Country and Overseas.
Dr Lulsegged developed the endocrine service at Princess Royal University Hospital, part of Kings College Hospital.
Beyond his medical achievements and exploits, Dr Lulsegged has a patient-centred approach, appropriately being awarded clinical excellence awards for his contribution to the care of patients. An academic phenom, alongside his healthcare interests, Dr Lulsegged also has a degree in biochemistry.
He enjoys teaching and has lectured at international conferences, grand rounds, academic half-days, GP talks and on professional MRCP courses, all of which reflects his broad extra-curricular interests. He wrote questions for the postgraduate examinations in Endocrinology for the Royal College of Physicians and has reviewed clinical papers for Editors of medical journals.

Dr Abbi Lulsegged shows a kind, caring, and knowledgeable expert approach with patients. He applies a holistic view, using specific tests for diagnosis of complex conditions such as MCAS, POTS, and SIBO. Treatment plans include tailored dietary and lifestyle changes. Many patients report marked improvements in chronic conditions, leading to enhanced energy and overall well-being.
My initial appointment with Dr Lulsegged exceeded all expectations. The following appointments were consistently thorough, clear, insightful with great improvements to the my thyroid, menopausal and gut health. Dr Lulsegged is the most kind, knowledgeable and experienced doctor. All prescriptions, paperwork and tests are dealt within a short period of time. The word that I will always use for Dr Lulsegged and his team is thorough.
When I first started seeing Dr Lulsegged I was so sceptical about some of the treatments he was suggesting. I was at absolute rock bottom and had tried everything imaginable for Long Covid/ post viral fatigue/CFS/ME symptoms especially the debilitating fatigue. I could barely stand up or walk for more than a few minutes, and I only really left the house for doctors appointments. During the course of a few months Dr Lulsegged helped diagnose my MCAS and POTS (along with another cardiologist colleague) and I started taking a number of supplements/ medications that had little effect. Early on Dr Lulsegged had suggested a programme of 3 x antibiotics/antivirals followed by a strict elimination diet that completely cut histamines - I rejected this for many months as the cost of the medication was astronomical, and the thought of having to meal plan, do separate food shopping to the rest of the family and prepare fresh meals from scratch was far too huge a task - particularly when I barely had the energy to stand up in the kitchen, just grab readymade food for every then heading back to the sofa. (Also, I thought really how much can a “diet”help my condition - it’s like someone suggesting yoga or meditation when I just wanted a magic pill!!) So I ploughed on for many months seeing no improvement with everything else I had tried, until I was absolutely so desperate that I would try anything, I finally decided to give the programme a go. It was really painful at first, my gut and bowel reacted badly to the medications and change in diet and caused all sorts of new problems … ...
Read moreDr Lulsegged is one of the most kind, compassionate and thorough doctors I've ever met. His expertise is amazing and you can tell very quickly how much he genuinely cares about his patients. His ability to think outside the box is so refreshing. I cannot speak highly enough of him.
I was very unwell for 1 year after coming off anti depressants and long Covid. And going on hrt progesterone. No doctor could help me. I saw so many doctors. I was crying nearly everyday and shaking. I had my first consultation with dr Abbi Lulsegged and he knew straight away what to check and look for. He told me I had mast cell activation and hormonal imbalance. Plus eostrogen dominant. He gave me something for mast cells to stabilise and cyclogest progesterone which have saved my life. He also does very specific tests for hormones and Sibo bacteria in the gut which no other doctor has ever done for me. He found out I had cibo and I am now taking antibiotics. Plus he says my cortisol was out of balance and gave me something for that. I found dr Lulsegged extremely knowledgeable and the tests he does are very good. I wish I had found him a year ago when I was bed ridden and went into clinics on and off. I have now booked for my son to see him too! I could not recommend Dr Lulsegged enough! So pleased I found him! He knows his stuff. I trust him very much! What a fantastic doctor! I saw so many gastroenterologist doctors before him no one found what he found!
Dr Lulesegged is a truly exceptional physician- he is very thorough and his knowledge commendable. You could not be in safer hands. I would highly recommend.
With a very complex condition and case, I have experienced many doctors from many fields. Dr Abbi Lulsegged is one of the few doctors I've had that look at the whole body, and try to isolate the cause rather than just treat the symptoms. He is highly efficient, intelligent and knowledgeable. He listens attentively and will never leave a question unanswered. One appointment with him can get you further in your diagnostic, recovery and health journey than 20 with another doctor. I was declining very rapidly, losing weight, bedbound and about to be hospitalised. However, due to his help and treatment, I am now seeing improvements every day! He has helped with my endocrine, gastrointestinal, and fatigue issues. His communication, deduction and medical skills are of the highest standard. Appointments are fast-paced, so it is best to be prepared: write down what symptoms and questions you would like to say beforehand. Every second of time with him is very valuable and can end up making huge improvements in your condition. Thank you very much Dr Abbi Lulsegged!
Dr Abbi Lulsegged is frankly exceptional. He truly listened to you, and took a holistic approach in the treatment. He also takes time to explain his logic, and what the next steps might be. He goes out of his way to make sure the treatment is effective and affordable. I'm genuinely impressed and would recommend him a thousand times. I'd also like to mention his secretary Charlotte who is so responsive, professional and kind. It's a great team.
One of the most genuine and caring Doctors I have ever met, listens fully to what you need and gives you clear answers on what he feels is the best way to make you feel better. I would highly recommend Dr Lulsegged
Dr Lulsegged speaks in a very soft knowledge manner and quickly puts you at ease. He provides clear explanations and checks to make sure you understand what he has said. He takes a holistic approach which I found very reassuring.
Amazing Doctor who actually listens to you. Dr Lulsegged has really helped me to get better and made me feel like my old self again.
I am lucky to share a number of patients with Abbi and they all speak very highly of his excellent caring manner which I am please to say is allied to an excellent knowledge base.
