Debra Glenaway

Debra Glenaway is an experienced psychotherapist who works with adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. At Nightingale Hospital, she is part of the Addictions clinical team, where she supports individuals in their recovery through outpatient counselling. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, ADHD, postnatal depression, and various forms of addiction, including substance misuse, behavioural addictions such as binge eating disorder, sex and love addiction, and technology addiction.

Debra has specialist experience in addiction treatment and has worked in multiple therapeutic environments, including a residential rehabilitation centre and a specialist addiction counselling agency. She also has experience supporting family members and loved ones affected by addiction. Her professional background includes working as a therapist in a psychiatric hospital, where she provided support for individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders and addiction-related issues.

She holds a CPCAB Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and is an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred). Debra trained as an integrative psychotherapist, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, counselling, attachment-based work, motivational interviewing and broader psychotherapeutic models. Her practice is tailored to each individual, with a focus on identifying and understanding patterns of behaviour and thought that may no longer serve them. She works with different attachment styles and incorporates both humanistic and motivational elements to support clients in making meaningful changes in their lives.

In addition to her work at Nightingale Hospital, Debra runs a private practice in Richmond and has volunteered for several years as a psychotherapist for the mental health charity Mind. She was also previously a Trustee of a women’s reproductive health charity.
