Mr Branko Mimic

Mr Branko Mimic is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon who specialises in paediatric and congenital cardiac surgery. He provides high-quality surgical care for babies, children, and young adults with complex heart conditions, as well as adults living with congenital heart disease. Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary healthcare team, Mr Mimic is committed to delivering individualised, patient-centred care while supporting families through every step of the surgical pathway.

Mr Mimic completed his initial medical training at the Medical School, University of Belgrade, qualifying in 2000. He went on to complete comprehensive specialist training in general paediatric surgery and paediatric cardiac surgery, followed by advanced fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at leading international centres in the United Kingdom. Demonstrating a continuous commitment to academic development and clinical research, he obtained a Master of Science in 2014 and a Doctor of Medical Science (PhD) in 2018. Mr Mimic is a member of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland, where he holds a leadership role in national congenital cardiac surgery audit and quality improvement.

In his clinical practice, Mr Mimic focuses on neonatal heart surgery, complex infant cardiac repair, and the lifelong management of structural congenital heart abnormalities. His procedural expertise encompasses corrective open-heart surgery, valve repair and reconstruction, aortic surgery, tracheal operations, and thoracic interventions. He is also experienced in advanced therapies for end-stage heart failure, including mechanical circulatory support and paediatric heart transplantation. Through meticulous surgical technique and an active research portfolio, Mr Mimic aims to deliver safe, effective treatments that optimise long-term health outcomes for his patients.
