Mr Azher Shafiq

Mr Azher Shafiq is an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with specialised expertise in breast and endocrine surgery. He provides comprehensive surgical care for a wide spectrum of general surgical conditions, offering patient-focused assessment and operative management to deliver optimal patient outcomes. His clinical practice encompasses routine general surgical procedures, breast disease management, and endocrine operations, ensuring patients receive reassuring, evidence-based care throughout their diagnostic and treatment pathway.

In his clinical work, Mr Shafiq manages a broad range of general surgical presentations, including laparoscopic gallbladder removal and various types of abdominal wall hernia repairs. He has extensive clinical expertise in symptomatic breast clinics, routine breast screening, and the surgical management of both benign breast conditions and breast cancer. Additionally, Mr Shafiq possesses a dedicated focus on endocrine surgery, performing diagnostic lobectomies, completion thyroidectomies for thyrotoxicosis, and surgical interventions for thyroid and parathyroid disorders, including hyperparathyroidism.

Mr Shafiq graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, qualifying in 1989. He subsequently completed higher surgical training, earning his Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in General Surgery in 2000. He gained Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI) in 2001, followed by the Intercollegiate Specialty Board exit examination FRCS in General Surgery in 2010. To remain at the forefront of surgical standards, Mr Shafiq maintains active professional memberships with the Association of Breast Surgeons and the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons.
