Dr Asif Bachlani recently joined the Priory Group as Consultant Adult Psychiatrist and Hospital Medical Director for their Woking, Lifeworks Hospital, and Oxford Wellbeing Centre locations. In 2020, Dr Bachlani was appointed as Priory's National Clinical Director for the Acute and PICU network of 25 hospitals. In this role, Dr Bachlani has developed inpatient care pathways for Acute and PICU hospitals, a digital ward round template, an informal leave template and a community discharge pathway. Dr Bachlani uses quality improvement methodology which has brought digital 6 Lead ECG devices to Priory Healthcare Division Network of hospitals and outpatient wellbeing centres.

Before joining Priory in 2019, Dr Bachlani was an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist for 8 years and worked in community/outpatient posts in North East London and Kingston. He treated patients aged 18-70 with mood, anxiety and personality disorders, neurodevelopmental disorder and psychotic disorders as a single point of access consultant in North East London between 2011-17.

As a result of his interest in mental health outcomes, it led him to taking on the role of NHS London Clinical Lead for Mental Health Outcomes between 2017-2019. During this time, he co-authored training modules on the HoNOS outcome tool for use by other NHS staff across London. As well as holding clinical positions within various NHS Trusts, Dr Bachlani has also undertaken managerial roles such as Associate Medical Director and Trust Lead for Mental Health Outcomes. Most recently, he has been working as Chief Clinical Information Officer.

Dr Bachlani graduated from St Bartholomews and Royal London Medical School in 2002 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) as well as a BSc in Clinical Medicine. He went on to complete his psychiatric training in Hampshire and Dorset, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 2008. In 2011, he completed his CCT in General Adult Psychiatry with a sub-specialty focus on Liaison Psychiatry. In 2019, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in recognition of his commitment to the field of psychiatry.
