About Dr Benson Benjamin
Dr Benson Benjamin is a Consultant Neuropsychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry. He has extensive experience in assessing and treating complex psychiatric, cognitive and neuropsychiatric conditions, particularly where mental health difficulties intersect with neurological illness and brain injury.
Dr Benjamin graduated with an MBBS from the University of Mysore in 2002 and completed a Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry. He obtained an MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry in 2020 and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in 2025.
His specialist interests include the neuropsychiatry of traumatic brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and functional neurological disorder, Dementia, memory disorders and cognitive impairment. He has particular expertise in the assessment and management of behavioural and psychological symptoms associated with dementia and Functional Neurological Disorder.
Dr Benjamin also assesses and treats depression, anxiety, affective disorders, psychosis and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). He also has expertise in aviation psychiatry and oncology psychiatry.
He takes a holistic, compassionate and patient-centred approach, considering biological, psychological and social factors to provide individualised assessment and treatment. He also practises as an Expert Witness Psychiatrist, undertaking independent psychiatric and neuropsychiatric assessments for medico-legal purposes. The initial consultation is for an hour and follow up appointments are for half an hour.
