Dr. Ashish Chikermane

Mr. Ashish Chikermane is a Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology with over 30 years of experience in paediatrics, specialising in cardiac conditions in neonates, children, and young people for 23 years. He has served as a consultant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for nearly 20 years, focusing on various types of cardiac imaging, particularly advanced echo and heart MRI. He completed his MBBS at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1992, and obtained his MD in paediatrics from the same institution in 1996.

Throughout his career, Mr. Chikermane has established various specialist programs, particularly focusing on surveillance and monitoring of the heart in various conditions, as well as cardiac screening programs with a special emphasis on genetic and familial background, and cardio-oncology (heart monitoring in individuals who have undergone cancer treatment).

In recent years, he has developed expertise in Covid-related effects on the heart in young people and has contributed to numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

Mr. Chikermane is highly skilled in the diagnosis and management of newborns, infants, and teenagers with heart issues. He offers consultations for a range of symptoms and conditions including heart murmurs, chest pain, palpitations, faints, and 'funny turns', as well as blue spells.
