Mr Antoine Kass-Iliyya

Mr Antoine Kass-Iliyya is an experienced consultant urological surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract stones, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, benign prostate conditions and andrology. Based in York, he sees private patients at Nuffield Health York Hospital and The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate.

Mr Kass-Iliyya has over 15 years of experience in surgery and urology. He completed his basic surgical training in Staffordshire, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough before undertaking higher specialist training across Manchester, Swindon, London, York, Bristol and Plymouth. During his training, he gained extensive experience across all aspects of general urology, with particular expertise in urinary stone disease and benign and malignant conditions affecting the prostate.

A particular area of Mr Kass-Iliyya’s expertise is transperineal prostate biopsy. He has performed thousands of transperineal prostate biopsies, including procedures under local anaesthetic. Many of his patients describe the procedure as virtually pain-free or considerably more comfortable than they had expected. He places particular emphasis on careful local anaesthetic technique, accurate biopsy targeting and ensuring patients understand what to expect before, during and after their procedure.

In 2010, Mr Kass-Iliyya obtained a Master’s degree with distinction from the University of Edinburgh, where his thesis examined functional outcomes and quality of life following radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer. He subsequently became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and was appointed as an NHS consultant urological surgeon in 2020 at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he currently serves as Lead Clinician for the Stone Service.

Mr Kass-Iliyya has a strong interest in clinical research and has authored publications in leading peer-reviewed urological journals, including the British Journal of Urology and European Urology. He has presented his research at national and international urological conferences in France, Ireland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. He was also awarded a Best Paper Prize at the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Annual Meeting in Liverpool for his work in urology.
