Dr Anthony Howard

Dr Anthony Howard is a dedicated Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in trauma and upper limb surgery. With a focus on providing compassionate, patient-centred care, Dr Howard works to restore mobility and function for individuals experiencing complex musculoskeletal conditions. He combines rigorous clinical practice with active involvement in surgical research to ensure every patient receives modern, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.

In his clinical practice, Dr Howard manages a wide range of upper limb disorders and traumatic injuries. His sub-speciality expertise includes shoulder and elbow trauma, complex joint instability, and upper limb reconstruction. He is particularly experienced in advanced restorative procedures, such as complex elbow reconstruction and mechanism-based upper limb repair. Dr Howard takes a methodical approach to evaluating each case, developing personalised treatment strategies designed to optimise recovery and minimise surgical complications.

Dr Howard completed his medical education at The University of Manchester, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2010. Demonstrating a strong commitment to academic advancement, he subsequently obtained a Master of Science in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University in 2010, a Certificate in Medical Education from Dundee University in 2011, and a Doctorate in Surgery and Oncology from The University of Liverpool in 2016. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2025. In addition to his surgical qualifications, Dr Howard earned a law degree from The University of Lancaster in 1991 and qualified as a Barrister at the Inns of Court School of Law in 1992. He maintains professional membership as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
