About Mr Amol R Chitre
Mr Amol Chire is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon. Amol specialises in hip and knee surgery. He is fellowship trained in hip and knee replacement and revision surgery as well as Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma.
Amol is a high volume hip and knee surgeon, working predominantly within a specialist Orthopaedic Unit. As part of the North West Pelvic and Acetabular Trauma Unit, he takes referrals on complex hip problems and fractures from the North West region.
He also continues an interest in Major Trauma, working as Major Trauma Clinical Lead for the Lancashire and South Cumbria Major Trauma Centre. In addition, he has a role with NHS England as a peer reviewer for Trauma services across the country.
Amol is committed to furthering surgical teaching and excellence, serving on the regional Specialist Training Committee and is regularly invited to teach at Regional, National and International Courses.
In his spare time he is a sports enthusiast, enjoying skiing, cricket, football and hockey.

I complied with a telephone request made on the morning of the appointment to attend x ray in advance of the appointment time. The appointment was delayed by 3/4 of an hour. However Inwas very happy to see Mr Chitre and be able to discuss my case.
The most calm reassuring informative surgeon I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Nothing was too much trouble. He explained everything relevant to the operation, also encouraged me to ask any questions. We met again on the day of my operation and his calm demeanour put me again at ease. He came to see me the day after my operation, explained everything had gone as he expected which was very reassuring to hear. On the day of my post surgery out patient visit he was again his calm reassuring self. Asking how I felt in general as well as specifically in regards to my surgery and how I felt my progress was going. He asked if I had any concerns or questions and followed up explaining that he was very impressed with my progress. He is in my opinion the most charming, approachable consumate professional.
I had a very positive appointment with Amol and felt like i was really listened to when describing my symptoms and discomfort. I’ve been trying to get more information for many years about my hip and long term treatment etc and felt like the session was far more insightful and helpful than previous appointments with other specialists. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and will continue with investigations and next steps to resolving my long term hip pain.
Mr Chitre was very helpful, kind and sympathetic to my needs. He was excellent.
