The whole experience was first class from start to finish. When first investigating lens replacement I visited a high street provider where i felt like i was rushed through and then told the procedure could not be completed. After a recommendation to visit MidlandEye and get a second opinion, I found the experience with them the complete opposite. They were helpful and welcoming from the start, patient, very informative, and I felt fully supported all the way through the process. The initial conversation, detailed eye exams, and detailed consultation all completed with the highest level of professionalism. It was all done at my pace, no pressure selling, and my surgeon (not sure whether I can mention his name), was totally outstanding. He fully explained the process, the choices available to me, and really slowly and carefully explained the lens, surgical procedure, and risks, to me on 2 separate visits. On surgery day, I was fully cared for by brilliant nurses, then a quick procedure, and very detailed recovery plan before heading on my way in probably less than 3 hours. The follow-up care has been to the same standard. The team are super-competent and supportive. Absolutely brilliant experience. Your eyes are so delicate and so important to you, I would fully recommend, without hesitation, Midland Eye. Highly, highly professional surgeon, with a team to match.

Midland Eye is a specialised centre for treatment that is very welcoming and thoroughly professional. Pre-op and post-op appointments are handled quickly, with considerable expertise. The operation process is relaxed, but fully explained to the patient, making for a comfortable experience. I am very pleased to have been in their care for recent cataract surgery.

My cataract operation was handled in a very professional and friendly manner. Although I was a bit nervous the nursing staff made me very relaxed and I found the experience not at all unpleasant. The directions for aftercare were made very clear and understandable. I am very pleased with the result.

I really cannot fault the care and treatment I have received from Midland Eye! Every single member of staff I came into contact with - from the Receptionists, Nurses, Optometrists etc, to my wonderful consultant, Mr Ankur Barua, were all so thoughtful, respectful, sensitive to my needs and invariably helpful and informative. The surgery I required (corneal implant, plus cataract removal) was complex and not a little scary. Mr Barua took a great deal of time and care to ensure that I understood all the options, costs and procedures involved, and that I was comfortable with arrangements. Kate Gerrard, the Clinical Liaison assistant went ‘above and beyond’ to arrange my surgery and to reassure me that all would go smoothly. Her kindness, caring approach and high level of professionalism were all essential to the smooth-running of my procedure. The procedure itself was so much easier than I could possibly have imagined. The anaesthetist, was wonderful, and immediately put me at ease before my surgery. Mr Barua explained everything as it was happening, and I felt no pain or discomfort during the surgery. All the theatre staff were kind and caring, and the nurses spent time with me afterwards, explaining the complicated after-care processes. I feel that what Mr Barua has done for me is nothing short of miraculous! The vision in my right eye has gone from ‘looking through frosted glass’ to virtually 20/20 vision - without glasses! - in just a few weeks..
