We were seen efficiently, felt welcomed and listened to.
Dr Rania Moussa was excellent. She was well prepared, listened to us and asked relevant and perceptive questions. She was really good with our son. The appointment was very expensive but we feel it was worth every penny, to finally have someone listen and be prepared to work with our complex son.
The Consultant was incredibly nice, knowledgeable and empathetic. Really glad that she is in charge of our kid's health.
The appointment took place on time and the staff friendly. However, the consultant spoke to my 15 year old son about the possibility of taking antidepressant medication, before discussing it with me. I was not happy about this. I am also still waiting for the follow up report , it is Thursday evening and my son’s appointment took place last Saturday. We are all feeling rather frustrated with the whole process.
I was very happy with the structure and pace of the appointment
Really helpful information and advice given in a lovely comfortable setting
Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with this experience. We travelled over an hour and a half to attend this appointment. The clinic rooms was completely inappropriate for a child assessment. It was incredibly noisy outside (understand you don't control road works), the fan was on (also understand it was hot) so it was very noisy in the room. The room had two very low sofas where we sat, and Dr Zaman was sat at a desk so she seemed to tower over us. The psychologist that attended the session, whom I suppose was there to reassure my child and take him to a waiting room whilst I spoke to the Dr confidentially, kept her eyes on the laptop and typed away throughout the consultation making her seem quite inaccessible. This all contributed to making this a very intimidating environment and caused Rafael, who is usually very chatty and friendly, to completely close up. At times you could barely hear him as he whispered instead of talking. Please could I suggest that any assessment involving a neurodivergent child to have a more appropriate room? Or if that's not possible to encourage the practitioners to move furniture around so that it's a more relaxed atmosphere.
Dr Dimitra Metheniti was excellent and our son felt very comfortable to open up and share his feelings during the 2 hour session. We feel we have come away feeling that the next steps are clear and it has brought us a huge amount of clarity.
