Dr Shermina Sayani

Dr. Shermina Sayani is a highly qualified Consultant Developmental Paediatrician. She specialises in Community Child Health, focusing on neurodevelopmental and social paediatrics. Her day-to-day duties include exploring developmental delays, diagnosing neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism and Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia), managing care for children with complex disabilities or syndromes, and performing medical assessments of safeguarded or adopted children.

Dr. Sayani is a GMC-registered specialist in paediatrics, with a subspecialty in community child health. In the NHS, she works as clinical lead for autism, and medical advisor for adoption and fostering at East London Foundation Trust (ELFT). In the private sector, she is a part of the compassionate and connected team at Eleos Clinic. Dr Sayani is also a member of the British Association of Adoption and Fostering and the British Association of Community Child Health.

After completing her medical studies at Imperial College London in 2004, Dr. Sayani gained valuable experience as a junior doctor, training across several hospitals in the city. This included work in emergency medicine, intensive care, neonatology, public health and primary care paediatrics. She has also worked with Child and Adolescent Mental Health teams. She believes it is essential to take a holistic ‘body-mind' approach when working with children and young people in order to gain a deep understanding of their experiences. Additionally, Dr Sayani holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Education which helps her excel at teaching others – something that she is passionate about. In the past, she has worked as both a medical lecturer and clinical ethics tutor.
